Day #2

Day 2 of my vegetarian experience was today, once again not a bad. I did however start to notice that I am not really full ever (basically what Mike from Icepaw said would happen).

Here is my day:

7:45am Breakfast, which was a rice crispy treat! No meat in that, score one for me and snap, crackle and pop!

8:30am Went for a run. Off day of lifting so I ran a few miles, truth be told it was harder than it probably should have been. I’m not going to chalk that up to not eating enough meat, I’m going to chalk that up to it being 95 and sunny at 8:30.

12:00pm Lunch. Egg sandwich on asiago cheese bread. Pretty good, not really missing meat yet. Although…

5:30pm Dinner. Fun fact, at Arby’s today they had $.99 regular roast beef sandwiches! I love Arby’s and my brother bought a bag full…just to get me to fail my bet. But I held strong and ate a grilled cheese with Arby’s Horsey sauce on it!

That’s basically my day. Not really that much great food going on, but if you were to ask me if I’m missing meat yet I can tell you no way. And you know why? Because I have great videos to keep me inline!!!!

Enjoy:

Day #1

It’s day 1 of my vegetarian experience, everything *seems* normal. I feel a little bit weak like I haven’t eaten anything, although I have already had 3 “meals”. So far my Day has gone like this:

7:30am Blueberry Filled Breakfast bar with Frosting (Great tasting but a little sweet for morning, oh well)
7:45am Worked out at the gym like regular, no real issues with lifting at this point.
11:00am After Workout Shake (Muscle Milk protein stuff)
3:00pm Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jelly Sandwich! Pretty good stuff, although to be honest I don’t handle milk real well so I had to have it with a glass of water…not the best.

It is currently 4:44pm, I plan on getting done with my work here at WSW and heading home to eat something for dinner…something without meat. No idea what but thanks to Mike from Icepaw ( http://www.myspace.com/icepaw ) and Phillup from Black Saint Parade ( http://www.myspace.com/blacksaintparade ) for some great meal ideas.

Fun fact, if you go back to the first blog I wrote on this called, “The Bet” Mike posted a link to a gross…gross video but it does the job. Really doesn’t make you want to eat meat for a while. Although, so we are clear, I’m not doing this because I feel bad about eating meat, I’m just doing it because I don’t think I NEED to eat meat (and to win a bet).

A quick thought before I give you my inspiration of the day, I hope this lack of meat doesn’t destroy my bowling game!!!!

Here is a video that I like that helps me get through this vegetarian bet:

Have a great Wednesday!

The Bet

My younger brother and I were talking today, over dinner which consisted of Tacos, about how I could probably be OK with a taco that didn’t have any meat. Somehow that conversation lead to him saying how I couldn’t go a day without eating meat, and thus a bet was born.

He is betting me that I can’t go a month without eating meat, and I have to tell you I think this is easy money (and a not so bad blog idea).

Here are the rules:

- NO meat (The usual suspects; beef, chicken, pork…)
- NO FISH (Being Catholic we sometimes don’t feel the need to count fish as a meat)
- Eggs and Milk are OK. So is Cheese and any other animal products that the animal didn’t die in making.
- The Bet runs from Tonight after dinner (So 5pm Central time July 29th) to August 28.

That’s about all of the rules. Things like chicken broth and what not are OK. You use that for soups and stuff and don’t need to have meat in em.

Here are my fears about the bet: I’m going to lose a lot of muscle. I’ve been working out at a pretty good clip lifting weights and what not for the better part of 3 months and I am a bit worried it will all go to waste, but is it really going to waste when it goes trying to win a bet? I think not.

I’ll blog about how I do each day, why? Because I know you all care very much. And if you have any awesome vegetarian foods I need to know about get at me!
