1) Voting resets Wednesdays at 11:59 PM (NEW)
There is actually a very good reason for this – the Thursday new show artists would only have 1 day to catch up in voting if the votes were not reset Wednesday at 11:59pm Central. So that means if you were in the lead Wednesday at 11:59PM you are the fan vote for the Friday Top 10 Show.

2) Vote Fraud
Look, we can see when people do it, we don’t usually edit the visual total because we like to let cheaters think they are winning. But WE DO edit the actual vote numbers that we have and use for the fan vote song. The reason for this is we like to be sure that this is an intentional act. We can understand a click mistake or 2 while you are using a proxy server and forget – however if we see it daily we know it’s fraud.

3) ONLY THE TOP VOTE GETTER IS PROMISED A SPOT ON THE SHOW
I had to type that in caps. If I had a dollar for every time someone sent an email our way asking why their song, #anything but 1 in the voting, isn’t on the top 10 show I’d be a rich man. Only the #1 song is getting a spot on the show via fan vote. The other songs are selected by our staff. We do this for the integrity of the show for our affiliates (no one wants to carry a show if it’s all junky so we make sure that the best songs do get heard.)

The behemoth social network that known as Facebook is suing the Northbrook, Illinois-based educator’s website Teachbook.

Facebook takes issue with their use of the word “book” which, according to the lawsuit, they claim infringes on their brand.

It’s not just because I think it’s silly to think that Facebook can claim that any site with “book” in it can in theory be shut down because they say so, it’s because Facebook recently crossed the 500million member mark and teach book recently crossed the 47 member mark. That’s right folks Facebook has 499,999,953 more members. And what is even more annoying about this whole suit? I know a lot of teachers in my area (in Northern Illinois) and they aren’t even allowed to have a Facebook/Myspace page.

So Facebook is suing a company who isn’t really even competing for the same customers? How does that even make sense?

Sure Facebook is big and powerful, I mean even my Dad is on it, and they feel like they should protect their trademarks but that isn’t really happening in this case. They are competiting for a limited demographic that partially cannot even access Facebook or they risk losing their jobs.

It would seem to me that if anyone rules that Facebook owns the word book as a part of their copyrights that the whole world is going to shit.

I mean where does it stop? Can I no longer go out and buy a “book” from a “bookstore”? Are we going to have to start calling them something different? How lame is that? “I’m going to buy a papery thing with words.”

So you know what folks…because of this I’m kind of saying screw off Facebook. You may have your copyrights and own the word book – but you’re not goint to have me.

The Who You Trippin’

Ingredients:

- 2 shots Absolut 100 (Vodka)
- 2 shots Passoa (It’s a passion fruit liquer…you can replace that with some other fruity booze if you want.)
- .5 shots absinthe (There is a rumor…that this stuff makes you trip. The stuff you buy in the US does not. So if you live in the US and bought it don’t worry about tripping cause you won’t, some people will pretend to but you won’t. And i’m not so sure the European stuff makes you trip either…but this is a debate for another day.)
- 1 Shot Orange Juice
- 1 shot Pineapple Juice
- Ice
- Orange Wedge + Cherry for Garnish

How To:

Simple my friends, pour everything into a blender with ice. Remember if you’re going to make a large quantity of this stuff just treat the “shots” like “parts”. The ratio MUST STAY THE SAME or it’s going to be a pretty nasty drink if you put too much absinthe in it. Once all the liquid is in the blender with ice, blend it. You’re looking for a smooth, but not watery consistancy. You’re going to want to put this in a Tom Collins glass.

What’s a Tom Collins glass you ask? Take a look:

Once you pour your drink + Ice mix into the Tom Collins glass, add the cherry and THIN orange slice as garnish.

* A quick note about this one – you’re not going to want to blend this with the ice if you have a crappy blender. If you can’t get a smooth ice mix with your blender relax, just fill glass with ice and add the liquid mix – ignore the blending step.

The fun part about this drink is watching everyone fake “trip” after you tell them absinthe is in it. Trust me, it’s worth it.

@Rockinout – ummmmm, I’ve never quite heard a closing like that in all my years of receiving emails (and this dates back to AOL dial up) so there’s that. To answer your question we have honestly thought about adding a “quality of recording” requirement to the submission process. At times some songs do sound like they’re recorded on an xbox headset. To date we’ve put that issue on the backburner, but with the amount of submissions we’re starting to receive we do plan on revisiting that issue.

…And that’s all I’m going to post. I’ve realized something as I was doing this, I get a lot of pointless emails about nothing. And…well…I thought I would share the type of emails I answer every morning with you – of course I’m backed up like 100000000 emails deep but still I answer some every day.

With summer just about winding down (I’ve always kind of hated August) we need to put one last Hurrah out there – a drink that will make you remember this summer…or…forget it…depending on how many you have.

Today We’re going to make a Mai Tai:

The Mai Tai

What is a Mai Tai you ask?

The Mai Tai is an alcoholic cocktail based on rum, Curaçao liqueur, and lime juice, popular in “Polynesian-style” settings.

It was purportedly invented at the Trader Vic’s restaurant in Oakland, California in 1944. Trader Vic’s rival, Don the Beachcomber, claimed to have created it in 1933 at his then-new eponymous bar (later a famous restaurant) in Hollywood. Don the Beachcomber’s recipe is more complex than that of Vic and tastes quite different.[1]

“Maita’i” is the Tahitian word for “good.” The spelling of the drink, however, is two words.[2][3][4]

Ingredients:
- 1.5 parts light rum
- 1 part dark rum
- 3/4 part triple sec
- 3/4 part Amaretto
- 1 part orange juice
- 1 part pineapple juice
- 1/4 part lime juice
- splash club soda
- splash grenadine
- Cherry (For garnish…but chicks dig it.)
- Pineapple (For garnish but chicks dig it.)

This is a fairly simple drink that I think even the worst drink makers in the world can’t screw up – there is enough booze and juice in there that no matter what you do it’ll be a hit. One thing that I want to point out is that I say “part” as the measurment because I’m not sure what size of drink you want to make. A lot of people just make a pitcher of Mai Tai’s so the “parts” will be the same, the size of the parts will just be different. Just be sure to get the ratio right (for example if you do a SHOT of Dark rum, you do 1.5 shots of light and so on.)

How to Make:

There are no “special” steps with this one. Mix the booze + Juices in a shaker (or even if you want a pitcher) and shake (or mix well). Pour in a glass with ice, the type of glass here is interesting – I normally pour 24oz Mai Tai’s cause that’s how I get down, but I know people who use 8oz glasses too. It’s whatever floats your boat. Just be sure to pour over ice – this drink must be served cold a warm mai tai is like warm OJ…crappy.

Once pour into the glass splash a bit of grenadine + club soda. Add the Pineapple wedge to the end of the glass and toss in the cherry OR put the wedge + Cherry on a cocktail toothpick. Whatever floats your boat.

And you’re done. You have a strong ass, tropical, end of summer drink!

Now get out there and enjoy responsibly!

Today we’re going to focus on the Tom Collins. Why? Because up to about a year ago I thought Tom Collins was just some dude…turns out it’s a drink too!

Tom Collins - not just a dude anymore!

This is a pretty simple drink, and it contains sugar so it won’t be so “hard”. The real key to this drink is going to be the sugar, you have to be sure you don’t use TOO much or you’re drinking a lemonade with gin. Which is OK, but not the goal here.

What I like best about this drink? Making it yourself is about $9.00 cheaper AND has more booze, than the Tom Collins mix.

What You Need:
Juice of 1 lemon
2 teaspoons Powdered Sugar (But be careful to not over do it.)
2 oz gin (I usually go 2 shots, which is a bit more than 2 oz)
Carbonated water (think sparkling spring if you’d like.)
Ice
High Ball Glass

How To:

Like most drinks that involve alcohol this one isn’t hard to make.

- Pour the gin + Juice of a lemon into a shaker filled with ice.
- Add powdered sugar
- Shake in the shaker pretty good (you don’t want any sugar chunks.)
- Pour into highball glass (That happens to have a few ice cubes in it.)
- Mix in sparkling water
- Slice an orange wedge and add to top of glass
- Throw a maraschino cherry in the glass
- Enjoy

I have a theory about why alcoholic drinks are so easy to make…it’s because when you’re drunk you’re going to have to be able to repeat the steps so keep it simple! Remember my rule about sugar – too much is a BAD thing. Pretend your dentist is watching you make this drink so you only want enough that you enjoy the drink, you don’t want enough that you’ll fall into a diabetic coma.
