After a nice little winter vacation we are back on the air (yep…we took a whole 4 days off!) with our amazing Top 10 Unsigned Artist Countdown that airs tonight at 8pm Central time!

Wonder what we did for our 4 days off?

Wonder what the Nooge got for Christmas?

Wonder how many babes Dave was able to take advantage of thanks to mistletoe?

Wonder what the heck Boomer does when he isn’t here?

You are going to have to tune in and find all of that out…Tonight on www.WestSideWill.com/Radio at 8pm Central time!

Hope everyone had a great holiday

We come back strong Friday with a NEW TOP 10 UNSIGNED ARTIST COUNTDOWN!

NO MONDAY SHOW!

Why no Monday show?

Well it’s simple really, us DJ’s had to work the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, and the day after. So we got Monday off. We are going to take that time to fix some little bugs that have been popping up at times as well.

Not to worry though, we’ll be back Tuesday with great new shows until the end of the year!

Thanksgiving Week

What a great week - am I right people?

First you have Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving for our out of country visitors to the site, which is one of the biggest party nights of the year. Here is my problem with Wednesday, I said I’m going to stop drinking…so this is going to be a tough one. Drinking is for the birds.

Then Thursday! Thanksgiving day! Who doesn’t love Thanksgiving day? In fact here at WestSideWill Radio I’m pretty sure we are even going to have a Thursday show. That isn’t set in stone yet, but we are leaning towards doing a Thrusday show. We will know more tomorrow and I’ll post a blog announcing the update. If we don’t do a Thursday show this week the new songs will carry over to next week and Boomer and I will host a HUGE show next week.

Black Friday comes up next. Does anyone get into that black Friday stuff? Personally I do not really do any sort of shopping for Christmas until just about Christmas Eve. So if I were to be shopping on Black Friday I’d be doing it for myself, and there are some super cool items out there for Black Friday. I just don’t know if I’d want to wait outside from right after Thanksgiving Dinner on for a cool product. It looks let Best Buy is going to let you do your “Black Friday” shopping online while supplies last starting Thursday. That’s a very smart move. (Make the money back on the shipping!) If you google “Black Friday Deals” you’ll be able to find just about everything that is going down that day. Although you’d have to be crazy to get out there and actually shop, but whatever floats your boat.

That’s all I got for our Thanksgiving Week announcements, stay tuned for more info on the Thursday Unsigned Artist Showcase!

Yeah…

Here is the thing about that, I have no voice…really…0 voice.

I tried, but…I couldn’t talk, and I guess it’s not such a great thing to have a DJ who can’t talk…

The good news is no matter what there will be a new show tomorrow, like always (Dave, Boomer, Champaign, Matt D., Myself…someone will host the darn thing).

So…without great tunes today I’m going to give you something to bump to…a song that is stuck firmly in my head, ENJOY!

*Fun update, Counting Crows have a “new” album out (That I’m pretty sure has sold like 5 copies) and I think Vanessa Carlton is still signed to The “Don’t Call me Murder” INC. It’s like they just keep signing people who are 10 times tougher than Ja Rule…poor guy.

We came to a realization tonight during the show, Boomer, Dave and I are all dudes.

Yep.

We are a fairly bright group here at the station and I think this is just another one of those examples. It came about when Boomer was telling a little story about trying his best, as a youngster, to try and talk to some girl he worked with whom he thought was going to be the first Ex Miss K.O. “Boomer” Boomstein.

Long story short:

She was restocking the salt shakers and Boomer said, “Iodized Salt Eh?” and she said “Yeah.” He then said, “Whulp…See you later”. And walked off, thus leaving his best shot on the table which she clearly took a pass on.

It’s with that story in mind we began to wonder…What do chicks think of this sort of stuff? Because we happen to think that they probably have some fairly entertaining stories about guys with really, really bad pick up lines. I’m not talking stupid pick up lines like, “Fat Penguin. What? Oh I just thought I would say something that would break the ice.” I’m talking like really bad, failures, like, “Iodized salt Eh?” Here is why we are wondering what chicks think about all this, we are guys, if the girl was hot and said, “Iodized salt eh?”, I would respond with something like, “Ohhhhh, yeah I love salt…wanna make out?”

So…yeah…on with the contest!

Here is what we want:

Ladies! Submit your best “funny” pick up line story to us here at WestSideWill Radio! If we read your funny story and reaction on the air we will give you a COOL PRIZE! What’s this cool prize you ask?

An autographed picture of Boomer, Dave, and The Nooge! Well…you don’t really have to accept this prize, but if you want one you can have one. I’m not sure I’d want one, but whatever floats your boat.

I will also post all of the great stories in this blog (which gets over 2000 hits a day! Neat.) with your name or whatever other info you want in it (like your myspace/facebook/website/whatever you want to link to). Or if you want to make in anonymous you can do that as well.

Here are the different ways you can submit your funny pick up line failures:

1) Email your story to The Nooge ( TheNooge@WestSideWill.com )
2) Message your story to The Nooge on MySpace (www.myspace.com/boomerthenooge)
3) Message your story to Dave The Intern (www.myspace.com/davetheintern007)

Your story can be as long OR as short as you’d like it to be.

And…

Well nothing. That’s it. It’s not a real complicated thing, we just want to hear what goes through the mind of the ladies when guys drop awesome lines on them like, “Iodized salt eh?”

Any questions or anything get at one of us using the above methods!

Have a great Friday, I’m sick and going to pass out!

So…you know on the show how I said I was going to be reviewing music videos on Saturday?

Well turns out I’m a liar!

Our music video review blog will be posted every Sunday Night. So that means tomorrow night we start with the reviews. I have the first shot at it, and it will be fun fun fun. (Some of the videos we have are hilarious….)

That is all.

Hey everyone,

For some reason our show didn’t pop up on time today, we kind of have a feeling it was due to the wicked storms we were having around here. Not to worry the Top 10 Unsigned Artist Countdown presented by www.DigitalDiscDuplication.com is NOW UP! So you can listen, we have some really amazing tunes and of course Dave and Myself keeping it real.

We don’t think this is an error that will happen often, just this one time when we had storms and the show couldn’t upload due to some outages…beautiful Chicago weather!!!!

:)

Stay tuned tomorrow when we review our first Music Video from one of our great artists!

Thanks for tuning in, and reading!

Good news, I’m here to help everyone learn a little bit about Columbus day!

The first Columbus Day celebration was held in 1792, when New York City celebrated the 300th anniversary of his landing in the New World. In 1892, President Benjamin Harrison called upon the people of the United States to celebrate Columbus Day on the 400th anniversary of the event.

Some Italian-Americans observe Columbus Day as a celebration of their heritage, the first occasion being in New York City on October 12, 1866.[1][2] Columbus Day was popularized as a holiday in the United States by a lawyer, a son of Genoese immigrants who came to California. During the 1850s, Genoese immigrants settled and built ranches along the Sierra Nevada foothills. As the gold ran out, these skilled “Cal-Italians”, from the Apennines, were able to prosper as self-sufficient farmers in the Mediterranean climate of Northern California. San Francisco has the second oldest Columbus Day celebration, with Italians having commemorated it there since 1869.

This lawyer then moved to Colorado, which had a population of Genoese miners, and where, in 1907, the first state-wide celebration was held. In 1934, at the behest of the Knights of Columbus (a Catholic fraternal service organization named for the voyager), Congress and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt set aside Columbus Day, October 12, as a Federal holiday (36 USC 107, ch. 184, 48 Stat. 657).

Since 1971, the holiday has been commemorated in the U.S. on the second Monday in October, the same day as Thanksgiving in neighboring Canada. It is generally observed today by banks, the bond market, the U.S. Postal Service and other federal agencies, most state government offices, and many school districts; however, most businesses and stock exchanges remain open.

I hope everyone learned a little bit about Columbus Day - And oddly enough I learned that the Canadian Thanksgiving is the same day. Let’s pretend that there is no show tomorrow to show our support for our Canadian listeners and bands!

Does Canadian Thanksgiving involve Canadian bacon? If so I’m in!

Have a great Columbus Day/Thanksgiving Canada!
